5,注意划出一些感情色彩的词语(情感,否定肯定,转折等:not always,seldom,But,however,of course,certainly...)
56. What is the finding of the Global Humanitarian Forum(全球人道主义论坛)?
A) Rates of death from illnesses have risen due to global warming.
B) Global temperatures affect the rate of economic development.
C) Malnutrition has caused serious health problems in poor countries.
D) Economic trends have to do with population and natural disasters.
57. What do we learn about the Forum’s report from the passage?
A) It caused a big stir in developing countries.
B) It was warmly received by environmentalists.
C) It aroused a lot of interest in the scientific circles.
D) It was challenged by some climate and risk experts
58. What does Dr. P i e l k e say about the Forum’s report?
A) Its statistics look embarrassing.
B) It deserves our closest attention.
C) It is invalid in terms of methodology.
D) Its conclusion is purposely exaggerated
C中说invalid(无效的)。
1, What is the finding of the Global Humanitarian Forum?
A) Rates of death from illnesses have risen due to global warming.
B) Global temperatures affect the rate of economic development.
C) Malnutrition has caused serious health problems in poor countries.
D) Economic trends have to do with population and natural disasters.
(原文)Global warming is causing more than 300,000 deaths and about $125 billion in economic losses each year, according to a report by the Global Humanitarian Forum, an organization led by K o f i A n na n, the former United Nations secretary general. The report, to be released Friday, analyzed data and existing studies of health, disaster, population and economic trends. It found that human-influenced climate change was raising the global death rates from illnesses including malnutrition (营养不良) and heat-related health problems.(解析:读题,找关键词 :finding ,Global Humanitarian Forum,关键词找到,我们立刻在文章中定位,为了方面大家看,我已经定位好了,而且找到关键词所在的句子:Global warming is causing more than 300,000 deaths and about $125 billion in economic losses each year, according to a report by the Global Humanitarian Forum,这句一目了然,就知道造成了大量伤亡,再根据下面这句话:It found that human-influenced climate change was raising the global death rates from illnesses including malnutrition,我们就可以确定答案肯定是A)
2,What do we learn about the Forum’s report from the passage?
A) It caused a big stir in developing countries.
B) It was warmly received by environmentalists.
C) It aroused a lot of interest in the scientific circles.
D) It was challenged by some climate and risk experts.
第三段(原文:But even before its release, the report drew criticism from some experts on climate and risk, who questioned its methods and conclusions.)(解析:读题,找关键词:Forum’s report,题目中说我们可以通过这个人的报道知道什么,我们立刻在文章中找到这个人,和他的报道:But even before its release, the report drew criticism from some experts on climate and risk, who questioned its methods and conclusions,我们在看到一些转折词的时候,像 but ,however, although 这类词的时候,一定要特别注意,这个词后面就会是答案,原文说the report drew criticism from some experts on climate and risk,我们再看看选项,只有D肯定是对的了,当然了,其他可以很快排除的,我这里就不多说了)
3,What does Dr. Pielke say about the Forum’s report?
A) Its statistics look embarrassing.
B) It deserves our closest attention.
C) It is invalid in terms of methodology.
D) Its conclusion is purposely exaggerated
(原文:Roger Pielke Jr., a political scientist at the University of Colorado, Boulder, who studies disaster trends, said the Forum’s report was “a methodological embarrassment” because there was no way to distinguish deaths or economic losses related to human-driven global warming amid the much larger losses resulting from the growth in populations and economic development in vulnerable (易受伤害的) regions. 解析:我们定位答案区间了,答案肯定就在这段,我们看到这句:who studies disaster trends, said the Forum’s report was “a methodological embarrassment”说“方法尴尬”继续看 because there was no way to distinguish deaths or economic losses,说没方法去区分....,我methodological embarrassment”,我们看选项C: It is invalid in terms of methodology.

4,What is Soren Andreasen’s view of the report?
A) Its conclusions are based on carefully collected data.
B) It is vulnerable to criticism if the statistics are closely examined.
C) It will give rise to heated discussions at the Copenhagen conference.
D) Its rough estimates are meant to draw the attention of world leaders.
第六段 (原文:However, Soren Andreasen, a social scientist at Dalberg Global Development Partners who supervised (指导)the writing of the report, defended it, saying that it was clear that the numbers were rough estimates. He said the report was aimed at world leaders, who will meet in Copenhagen in December to negotiate a new international climate treaty)(读题,找关键词:Soren Andreasen’s view of the report,(解析:我们立刻在文章中找到这个词的位置,就等于确定了答案区间,He said the report was aimed at world leaders, who will meet in Copenhagen in December to negotiate a new international climate treaty很明显,我们直接可以看出来答案就是D)
