2007年阅读Text 4第一段:
Just as bosses and boards have finally sorted out their worst accounting and compliance troubles, and improved their feeble corporation governance, a new problem threatens to earn them – especially in America –the sort of nasty headlines that inevitably lead to heads rolling in the executive suite: data insecurity.
1. 词汇
① lead to sth:to have sth as a result“导致,造成(某种后果)”
② heads rolling的表达来自短语heads will roll (for sth):used to say that some people will be punished because of sth that has happened有些人将(为某事)受到惩罚。
③ suite: a set of related things (for example, rooms, matching furniture, computer programs, etc.) or a group of people who work for or help an important person.“一套(房间、家具、软件等);随员,随从” executive“经营管理的;有执行权的,行政的” executive suite在本句中意为“行政随员,管理层”。
2. 句子结构
句首Just as ... corporation governance是时间状语从句(详解见书中分析)。主句的结构是a new problem threatens to earn them the sort of nasty headlines, that引导定语从句,修饰headlines,定语从句的完整形式是:headlines(主语)inevitably lead to(谓语) heads rolling (宾语) in the executive suite(宾语的后置定语)。破折号中especially in America是地点状语,说明earn them nasty headlines的情况在美国常发生。
