难句的构成：
难句=主句（含并列结构）+（省略）+从句+固定用法+词汇
（1）难句就像一颗大树，只有抓住了主干（主句），之后再顺着主干去细分枝节（从句类型），叶（词汇）。
（2）对于英语难句中惯用的省略成分，又可以将之想象成一幅拼图，将那关键的一块找到，并且放置在准确的位置，那么一幅拼图也就能够很清晰的展现在我们面前

因此，在理解难句的时候不仅要学会“拆”——把复杂句拆成简单句来理解。同时还要学会“补”——将文章省略的内容补充完整，便于分析理解。
只有而且只要将上面两块内容弄清楚了，那么所谓的难句其实不过就是一只纸老虎，我们也就不会像小猫玩线团一般玩得一团糟

拆：
任何句子都必须有主语、谓语，找到一个谓语动词就可以拆下来一个句子（主句或者从句）。

理解难句的基本步骤是：
1）找出有哪些谓语动词；
2）确定主句的谓语动词，主语，理解主句（注意有没有连接词形成并列结构）；
3）确定从句的谓语动词（如果有的话），理解从句（注意有没有连接词形成并列结构）


例：
The scope of the book is such that it should provide a solid foundation for those who intend to select optics as a career and at some time it should furnish an adequate knowledge of the subject in a comprehensible form for those who intend to specialize in other branches of physics or engineering.
（1）找动词：is，provide，intend，furnish，intend，select，specialize
（2）理解主句结构：The scope of the book is such[……]
（3）理解从句（还是从谓语动词入手）：
a.[that it should provide a solid foundation for those who intend to select optics as a career] and [at some time it should furnish an adequate knowledge of the subject in a comprehensible form for those who intend to specialize in other branches of physics or engineering.]两个状语从句的连接，再细分每个状语从句
b. that it should provide a solid foundation for those (who intend to select optics as a career)
c. [at some time] it should furnish an adequate knowledge of the subject [in a comprehensible form] for those (who intend to specialize in other branches of physics or engineering.)
